Head east of I-185 in the area that’s south of Macon Road and north of Buena Vista Road. This is where you’ll find East Columbus.
East Columbus is home to a number of different neighborhoods- some upscale, some more affordable. You won’t have any trouble finding a great apartment, no matter what your budget looks like.

Variety of shopping
This district sits just east of the center of town. You won’t have any shortage of places to shop. In East Columbus itself, you’ll have a Walmart and four different shopping centers (Eastgate Plaza, Forest Road Plaza, Corners Crossing, and Starmount Plaza). The Peachtree Mall will only be a short trip north on I-185.
Yummy restaurants
Dining options on this side of town aren’t as upscale as what you’ll find in Uptown and Midtown Columbus. However, you can rest easy knowing your East Columbus apartment is close to some tasty places. One of the most popular is Macon Road Barbecue, a tiny hole in the wall that specializes in brisket and Georgia-style brunswick stew. There are also a couple of Mexican restaurants that the locals love, along with the sweet treats at Veri Best Donut.
Great parks
Carver Park and Recreation Center is perfect for spending a lazy afternoon. You can stroll the walking trails, fish or run around with the kids on the playground. There’s also a game room, pavilions, a gymnasium, and a kitchen you can rent for private parties. When living in one of the local apartments, you’ll get a discount on your rental!
The Woodruff Farm Soccer Complex is home to Columbus Youth Soccer. There are ten different-sized fields here, perfect for players of all ages. There’s also a concession stand. You have plenty to fuel up on while you watch one of the many tournaments that are played here.
Belvedere Park and Shirley Winston Park are on the South side of Buena Vista Road, just South of East Columbus.
Unique educational opportunities
Have kids? You’ll be happy to learn that you don’t have to enroll them in private school to give them a great education. This neighborhood is home to East Columbus Magnet School, a middle school with just over 600 students. There are a variety of magnet programs here for kids who are gifted and talented.
Columbus State University, founded as Columbus College in 1958, was established and is administered by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. This university is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The music department received the Regents Teaching Excellence Award for Departments and Programs from the University System of Georgia. Cunningham Center is on the Columbus State University’s campus it’s a beautiful modern building and sits across the street from Peachtree Mall.
The Rails to Trails bike trail runs through the middle of this area. You can rent bikes for the day or bring your own.
Close proximity to possible job opportunities
AFLAC East Campus is a large employer in the area. Corporate Ridge Industrial and Business Park is the home to many national and international businesses.
